Six designated dog beaches have been announced for the summer across Cyprus.
The list of designated dog beaches in Cyprus is renewed annually, following cooperation between the municipalities and community councils of areas and the Central Foreshore Committee of Cyprus.
The first of the six are officially in the Nicosia District and more specifically in Kato Pyrgos. The name of the beach is ‘Steratzia.’
The second beach falls within Larnaca’s municipal limits and is ‘Spyros Beach’ in the Kasianes area while the Paphos district boasts two dog beaches. The first is northwest of the airport, by the mouth of the Ezousa River, in Acheleia while the second is the beach in the Pitili area, east of the mouth of Platania River, in Neo Chorio which is west of Polis Chrysochous.
Limassol also has two dog beaches – the first in the Karavopetra area, southeast of the SALA sewerage works plant, by Monagroulli and the second is the dog beach at Prolimnos, west of Pissouri.
It should be noted that a seventh dog beach operating last year – Glyki Nero A in Paralimni – will not be designated dog beach this summer because of the constriction of the marina.
Dog owners are also reminded to be responsible for their dogs’ safety and to take care to clean up after them and keep the beaches clean.
Fresh drinking water should also be brought by the owner for the dogs to drink.
