Eleven new cases of coronavirus out of a total of 3,201 laboratory tests, the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health announced today.
In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:
- Of 140 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 5 cases were identified.
- Of 1,178 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 3 cases were identified.
- Of 28 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 1 case was identified.
- Of 131 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 1 case was identified.
- Of 839 samples taken through a private initiative, 1 case was identified.
The 11 new cases resulted as follows:
- 5 x tracing, of which 1 through a private initiative:
- The first person is the spouse of a case announced on 19/8. They had a recent trip to Slovenia and Serbia. No symptoms
- The 2nd person took the test privately and is contacted by the patient's family environment of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre announced yesterday. He's got symptoms. Both are contact.
- The 3rd person is from the family environment of cases announced one on 18/8 and the 2nd yesterday.
- The other 2 people are contacts from the family environment of other cases.
- 1 x private initiative: This is a person who manifested symptomatology on 20/8 and took the test privately on 21/8.
- 1 x Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals: This is a person who has had symptoms since 14/8 and visited THEP Larnaca on 19/8 with shortness of breath. He was taken to the reference hospital.
- 1 x referral by a Personal Physician to the Public Health Clinics: This is a person who returned from Thessaloniki on 18/8 and on 19/8 had symptoms. He was referred by his personal physician and took the test on 20/8.
- 3 x flights:
- One person is a Cypriot who returned from Mykonos on 20/8.
- The 2nd person is Cypriot who returned from Corfu via Athens on 20/8.
- The third person is a foreigner who came from Budapest on 20/8.
In addition, 885 laboratory diagnoses were carried out from samples taken as part of the random random sampling of 10,000 subjects, without the detection of a case.
Based on the data so far, the total number of positive cases is 1,406.
In addition, two COVID-19 patients are being treated in a ward at Famagusta General Hospital, while one patient is being treated intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital.
