A decrease in the average age of patients with COVID-19 records the new epidemiological bulletin issued by the Ministry of Health and now the median age is 39 years. In addition, the R-index is increased in the four different methods used, as well as a decrease in the number of active cases, which are now 18.4 per 100,000 inhabitants.
In more detail, the median age of patients was 41 years in the previous epidemiological bulletin and 39 years in the bulletin up to 25/8. For the Reproduction Number R in the first method, R 1.04 is recorded compared to 0.97 two weeks ago, in the second method 0.73 versus 0.97, in method C R 1.3 versus 1.2 and in D method 0.78 versus 0.96 two weeks ago.
By 11 August, the cumulative incidence of 14 days of COVID-19, (prevalence of active disease), was 23.7 per 100,000 inhabitants and by 25 August it was 18.4 per 100,000 inhabitants.
The largest increase per province was recorded by Limassol with 16.9%, followed by Larnaca with 15.1% and Third Nicosia with 10.4%.
Summary
As of 25 August 2020, 1,442 cases of COVID-19 and 27 deaths (mortality in diagnosed cases of COVID-19: 1.9%) have been reported in the Republic of Cyprus.
• Among these cases, 14.1% are health workers (n=204) – 2.9% are doctors (n=42), 7% nurses (n=101), 0.7% other health professions (n=10) and 3.5% auxiliary staff (n=51). • The median age of COVID-19 cases is 39 years (Intra-fourth-quarter range: 27-56 years), 51.4% is for men and 48.6% for women.
• Cases of domestic transmission are 947 (74.2% of the 1,276 cases where the epidemiological history is known) - Of these, 128 (13.5%) recorded in the Municipality of Aradippou and 57 (6%) were related to Paphos General Hospital.
• As of 1 July, of the 444 recorded confirmed cases, 34% (n=153) concerned cases with a recent travel history, while 61% (n=269) concerned cases of domestic transmission. • A total of 14.1% (n=203) of COVID-19 cases received hospital care - 6 cases (3%) are still in hospital (either for COVID-19 treatment or for underlying diseases). The median age of all hospitalized patients is 62 years (Intra-fourth-quarter range: 47 – 73 years), with 63.6% for men.
• One patient is in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is intubated. • A total of 1,139 (80.5%) individuals have recovered (people without symptoms who have had a negative result in two tests after the first positive or for whom 21 days have passed the diagnosis) The following epidemiological data are subject to change due to the rapidly evolving situation 3 • By 25 August 2020, a total of 285,300 diagnostic tests (32,572.2 per 100,000 population) have been carried out.
Epidemiological Data in the Republic of Cyprus
The analyses are based on laboratory confirmed cases notified to the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health. As of August 25, 1,442 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported.
The median time from the onset of symptoms to the date of sampling is 3 days (Intra-fourth molecular range: 2-6 days). It should be noted that for 32 cases, the date of collection of the sample was before the onset of symptoms, as a result of direct examination of individuals who had contact with a confirmed or possible COVID-19 case.

Among all COVID-19 cases, 51.4% in men (n=741) and 48.6% in women (n=701). The median age of COVID-19 cases is 39 years (Endo-fourth-molecular range 27-56 years). By age groups: 106 infants, children and adolescents 0-17 years old (7.4%), 1,063 adults aged 18-59 (73.7%) and 273 people aged 60 and over (18.9%).
Among all cases, 476 (33%) had a place of residence in the province of Nicosia, 372 (25.8%) in Larnaca province, 256 (17.8%) in Limassol province, 183 (12.7%) in Paphos province, 74 (5.1%) in the free area of Famagusta and 81 incidents (5.6%) british bases or residence in the change or there was no information available for them (Table A1).
Figure A1 in the Annex shows the distribution of incidents by municipality. It is noted that 176 cases (12.2%) reported in Aradippou, municipality of Larnaca province (Table A1). Cases in Aradippou, including a network in a local bakery production unit, are predominantly male (51.7%, n=91) and the median age is 39 years (Intra-fourth-quarter range: 26-57 years). Excluding this network, the cases are mainly women (57.4%, n=85) and the median age is 45 years (Intra-fourth-quarter range: 24-60 years).
