NEW DECREE FOR EVENTS, GATHERINGS, USE OF A MASK - effective until 15/1/21

A new decree aimed at limiting the spread of THE COVID-19 virus, protecting public health and preventing a possible collapse of the health system from spreading the virus, was issued on Wednesday by the Minister of Health, Konstantinos Ioannou.

In particular, the new decree prohibits mass events, gatherings, demonstrations, parades, concerts, outdoor festivals and festivals in public and private places, except in the cases specified in the guidelines issued by the competent Ministry.

In addition, the new decree allows the presence and gathering of persons in homes and/or other public or private gathering places and/or other places, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health, provided that the aggregated persons do not exceed 50 persons per house/group, including minor children.

Please note that this Regulation excludes dining areas, banquet halls, sessions and events, outdoor and closed theatres, as well as any other spaces specified in the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.

In the meantime, the maximum number of persons who may attend simultaneously in dining areas, banquet halls, meetings and events, closed and open theatres, as well as in any other premises designated by the Ministry of Health, shall be laid down in the guidelines issued by the competent Ministry.

The new decree also makes it compulsory to use a protective face mask for pupils, teachers and all workers in public and private secondary schools, as well as teachers and employees in public and private primary schools, while it also makes it compulsory to use a protective face mask for students, teachers and all employees in public and private universities, as well as public and private Higher Education Schools.

This Decree shall enter into force immediately until midnight on 15 January 2021.
