PAPHOS - REFUSE A 'HEADACHE' DUE TO INAPPROPRIATE MATERIALS IN BAGS/BINS

In the face of an unexpected problem, the officials of the cleaning services of the Municipality of Paphos are increasingly present in recent times. Garbage trucks are damaged since in the bags or bins, more and more often materials are found that should not be disposed of  by that method by the citizens.

The information of the "F" was confirmed by a competent source of the municipal authority who spoke of the unacceptable attitude of a large number of citizens. Cases are revealed, he said, where inside the garbage bags collected by workers in the sector there are inert materials from construction work and other objects that should be transported by citizens to the Green Spots and not to garbage trucks, but also other items that are also not allowed to be included in household waste, such as iron structures.

"Unfortunately, in most cases this unacceptable situation," they said, "is seen when the bags are thrown into the car and the mechanism is already damaged by the existence of these inappropriate items. The result is significant damage to waste trucks, both from an economic point of view and in terms of repair time."

The staff of the Department of Cleanliness of the Municipality of Paphos are probably the hardest workers in the municipal machine and should be respected by all the Pafites, stressed the same factors, calling on the citizens to respect this fact and to respect the trouble of the people who work daily from 3 a.m. for the cleanliness of the city and each house.

" Staff complain that in the bins they find even stones, accessories from grills, irons and other objects that, in addition to the difficulty they create, destroy the machinery. This is not a minor situation, every citizen should act responsibly."

This situation must change immediately, the officials of the Municipality stress, since the Green Point and the Municipality of Paphos are already in operation, while the Green Point in Koloi is in operation for years, where citizens can transport materials for disposal that cannot be collected by the refuse men.
