NINE NEW CASES FOUND TODAY [in addition to the 30 disclosed earlier today]

The Ministry of Health informs that, according to an update received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, a total of 3,176 laboratory diagnoses identified 9 new cases of COVID-19 disease.

In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

• Of 2,226 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 3 cases were identified.
• Of 107 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 2 cases were identified.
• Of 71 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 3 cases were identified.
• Of 612 samples taken through a private initiative, 1 case was identified.

In addition, 160 laboratory diagnoses were carried out from samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, without the detection of a case.

Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of positive cases amounts to 1,460.

In addition, the Famagusta General Hospital was admitted yesterday and, as a result, two COVID-19 patients are being treated in a ward. In the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital, a patient is hospitalized.
