1278 INCIDENTS OF CORONAVIRUS - THE COURSE OF THE PANDEMIC IN CYPRUS [up to 11 August]

New statistical data on the course of the coronavirus pandemic in Cyprus has been published by the Ministry of Health.

The data relate to the data until 11 August.

As of 11 August 2020, 1,278 cases of COVID-19 and 27 deaths (mortality in diagnosed cases of COVID-19: 2.1%) have been reported in the Republic of Cyprus.

• Among these cases, 15.6% are health workers (n=200) – 3.2% are doctors (n=41), 7.8% nurses (n=100), 0.8% other health professions (n=10) and 3.8% auxiliary staff (n=49)

• The median age of COVID-19 cases is 41 years (Intra-fourth-quarter range: 28-57 years), 51.7% is for men and 48.3% for women.

Cases of domestic transmission are 855 (76.4% of the 1,119 cases where the epidemiological history is known) - Of these, 111 (13%) recorded in the Municipality of Aradippou and 57 (6.7%) were related to Paphos General Hospital

• As of 1 July, of the 289 recorded confirmed cases, 31% (n=88) concerned cases with a recent travel history, while 63% (n=177) concerned cases of domestic transmission

A total of 15.3% (n=196) of COVID-19 cases received hospital care - 6 cases (3.1%) are still in hospital (either for COVID-19 treatment or for underlying diseases). The median age of all hospitalized patients is 61.5 years (Intra-fourth-quarteral range: 47 – 72.5 years), with 63.3% for men

• No person in intensive care unit (ICU)

A total of 878 (70.2%) people have recovered (people without symptoms who had a negative result in two tests after the first positive or for whom 21 days had passed since diagnosis)

• By 11 August 2020, a total of 238,000 diagnostic tests (27,172.1 per 100,000 population) have been carried out.
