TEN NEW CASES TODAY

With regard to new cases of COVID-19 disease, according to data from the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health, out of a total of 3,202 laboratory diagnoses, 10 positive people were identified in the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

  • Of 205 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 5 cases were identified.
  • Of 1,549 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 2 cases were identified.
  • Of 633 samples taken through a private initiative, 3 cases were identified.

In addition, the following laboratory diagnoses were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • From samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics, 83 laboratory tests were carried out,
  • From samples carried out by the migrant structure control programme, 10 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
  • From samples taken as part of the random sampling of 10,000 people, 623 laboratory diagnoses were carried out,
  • From a program carried out by the Ministry of Justice and Public Order for the control of staff working on the premises of the Courts, we had a result for 1 sample, and
  • From samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 98 laboratory tests were carried out.

Based on the data so far, the total number of positive cases is 1,395.

In addition, a COVID-19 patient is still being treated in a ward at Famagusta General Hospital, while one patient remains intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
