FINE OF €6,500 ON A BAR IN PAPHOS FOR VIOLATING ORDERS

Fine €6,500, the Court imposed the fine on the owner of a premises for breach of the Decree of the Infectious Cleansing Act.

In particular, the owner of a premises, whose operation has been suspended since 5 August 2020 in the centre of Paphos, has been brought before the Paphos District Court today for breach of the Law on Infectious Cleansing in Paphos. The case was heard today before the Paphos District Court, and the Court imposed on the owner of the premises a fine of €6,500. He also ordered that the premises reopen normally after payment of the fine.

According to what was said in the Court, the temporary order for the suspension of the operation of a premises was issued by the Paphos District Court on 5 August, at the request of the Police, since during the daily checks for the implementation and observance of the protection measures against the spread of the crown, repeated violations of the Law on Infectious Cleansing and the relevant Ministerial Decrees were found.

This is a bar in Paphos, where during the checks carried out by the Police, on six different dates, violations of the relevant legislation were found.

During an inspection by members of the Police, it was found that there were a number of regulars in the premises that exceeded the permitted number, resulting in overcrowding and not respecting the necessary distances between the regulars.

A number of regulars in addition to the permitted number were found in the bar and in checks carried out on 21 and 28 June, while on 4, 5 and 24 July, infringements of the decrees were also detected.

On 4 and 5 July, it was found that officials and the management of the premises did not follow the necessary protective measures.

Also on the 4th of July, as well as on the 24th of July, the premises served customers at the bar, while at the same time the necessary distances from the regulars were not respected.

Against the Directorate of the premises, it was registered in the Paphos District Court for trial, a case of violation of the Law on infectious cleansing. At the same time, the Police submitted a request for a temporary suspension order for the premises until the case was heard, which was accepted by the Court of Justice.

Today the Court of Justice which heard the case imposed on the owner of the premises a fine of €6, 50.

Police checks continue

Specifically, from 6am on Friday, 7/8/2020 until 6am today, members of the Police carried out a total of 3473 checks in all cities, of which 49 complaints were made in various premises and 117 complaints from citizens. The majority of complaints concerned the non-use of a protective mask.

Detailed by province, the Police carried out 369 checks, 15 complaints of premises and 41 complaints of citizens in the province of Nicosia, 1198 checks, 9 complaints of premises and 41 complaints of citizens, in Limassol, 647 checks, 6 complaints of premises and 14 complaints of citizens in Larnaca, 235 checks of 16 complaints of premises and 13 complaints of citizens in Paphos, 677 checks of 3 complaints of premises and 6 of citizens in Famagusta and 417 checks of 2 complaints of citizens in the department of Morfos.

The checks are aimed at preventing the virus from spreading again in society and it is noted that police controls will continue to be rigorous and members of the Force will make complaints there and where violations of relevant decrees are detected.
