Fourteen new cases of SARS-CoV-2, out of a total of 3,539 laboratory diagnoses, were detected On Friday, according to data from the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health.
In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:
• From 218 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 4 cases occurred.
• Of 1,111 samples taken through a private initiative, 5 cases were identified. Of these, 4 have a recent travel history.
• Of 28 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 1 case was identified.
• Of 239 samples taken under the control programme of 10,000 workers re-activated during the second and third phase of the strategy for phasing out restrictions, 4 cases were identified.
In addition, the following laboratory diagnoses were carried out, without the detection of a case:
• From the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 147 laboratory tests were carried out,
• From samples taken in the context of passenger and repatriated checks, 1,576 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
• From samples taken at the roadblocks, 48 laboratory tests were completed,
• Of the samples taken by the residents of Kato Pyrgos Tylliria, 2 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
• Samples taken as part of the migrant structure control programme carried out 26 laboratory tests, and
• From the random sampling programme of 10,000 people, 144 laboratory diagnoses were carried out.
Based on the data so far, the total number of positive cases is 1,222.
In addition, four patients in consistently good condition are still being treated in a ward at Famagusta General Hospital.
In particular, the new cases are analysed as follows:
• 5 x private initiative, 4 of which have a travel history:
1. 1 person has a travel history in Finland (came to Cyprus on 29/7). He had symptoms.
2. The 2nd person is of Cypriot origin with a travel history in America (came to Cyprus on 1/8).
3. The 3rd person is of Cypriot origin with a travel history in Sweden (came to Cyprus on 29/7).
4. The 4th person is of Cypriot origin with a travel history in Paros (returned on 30/7). He took the test privately.
5. The 5th person had symptoms and did so privately.
• 4 x control program of 10,000 employees of the second and third phase.
• 4 x tracking:
1. The 2 are contacts who did the examination privately
2. The other 2 are through the normal process of tracing
• 1 x referral to Public Health Clinics by a Personal Physician due to symptoms.
