ALL INFORMATION ON THE 9 NEW CASES DETECTED TODAY

With regard to new cases of COVID-19 disease, according to data from the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health, a total of 2,919 laboratory diagnoses identified 9 cases of SARS-CoV-2.

In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

  • Of 108 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 5 cases occurred.
  • Of 393 samples taken through a private initiative, 3 cases were identified. Of these, 1 has a recent travel history.
  • Of 153 samples taken under the control programme of 10,000 workers re-active during the second and third phase of the strategy for phasing out restrictions, 1 case was identified.

In addition, the following laboratory diagnoses were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • From samples taken as part of the program of referrals from Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, we resulted from 192 laboratory diagnoses,
  • From the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 112 laboratory tests were carried out,
  • From samples taken in the context of passenger and repatriated checks, 1,446 laboratory diagnoses were completed, and
  • Of the random sampling programme of 10,000 people, 515 laboratory diagnoses were carried out.

In particular, they concern:

  • 3 cases of private initiative
  1. The 1st is of Cypriot origin who did the examination on the private initiative of the company he works for. He has no symptoms.
  2. The second did the test privately because of symptoms. He has a recent travel history in Poland.
  3. The 3rd is of Cypriot origin and took the test privately due to symptoms.
  • 1 case from the programme of 10,000 workers in phase B and C. He has no symptoms and works for a company that doesn't serve an audience.
  • 5 cases of close contacts from the tracing process. One of them has symptoms.

Based on the data so far, the total number of positive cases is 1,242.

In addition, five patients in consistently good condition are being treated in a ward at Famagusta General Hospital.
