The Ministry of Health informs that, according to an update received last night by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories carrying out laboratory tests at airports, a total of 346 laboratory diagnoses identified 30 new cases of COVID-19 disease.
All 30 virus-positive individuals resulted from laboratory testing of samples taken as part of passenger and repatriated screening. Specific:
- The 17 people were spotted by a flight that arrived from Mykonos on August 22nd. The majority of people are connected to each other.
- The 10 people were spotted by a flight arriving from Amsterdam on August 23.
- The three people were spotted by a flight arriving from London on August 23.
Investigation of all incidents has begun and their tracing continues.
Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of positive cases is 1,451.
It is noted that, in the context of the continuous surveillance and evaluation of epidemiological data, the Ministry of Health intends to classify the Netherlands from Category B to Category C in the relevant press release to be issued within the day.
It is recalled that due to the increase in the number of CASES OF COVID-19 in people who have travelled abroad and are positively detected in the virus some days after their journey, it is recommended that citizens returning from a trip repeat the laboratory test privately 7days after their arrival, even if they have undergone laboratory testing at the airport with a negative result.
It is understood that citizens who show symptoms (cough, fever, shortness of breath, agaesthesia, dysgeia, immunity) before the end of 7 days, must immediately contact their Personal Physician and follow his instructions.
