The fifth floor of the Limassol General Hospital is getting ready to receive COVID-19 confirmed cases. Already, as of yesterday and after finding out seven confirmed cases, five among patients and two among the staff of the hospital, patients have started being moved to other wards.
In statements to philenews, the spokesman of the State Health Services Organization Charalambos Charilaou said that an action plan has been prepared in case the Famagusta General Hospital, which operates as a reference establishment, is full. He added that there are beds available also at the Nicosia General Hospital but in recent days there are more patients being treated at the reference hospital, which will soon be full.
Until yesterday, 47 patients with SARS-CoV-2 were treated at the Famagusta General Hospital, including five in the ICU, while the establishment can receive up to 88 patients.
Asked about the source of the infection at the Limassol Hospital, he said that all possibilities are under investigation and it is too early to reach any safe results.
