Illegalities in the Sun City case of a company in which Christos Tziovannis, resigned opposition AKEL MP, is a shareholder seem to be many. Work at the said Resort and Residences at Agia Napa Marina began with arbitrary interventions in land belonging to the state, there is illegal building of two extra floors, while the unit is being built in violation of the environmental approval and the planning permission granted.
According to information from the Ministerial Committee, the relevant building authority is the Municipality of Sotira, which has to monitor the building of the residences and take measures to end the illegalities.
It is noted that the project is under the radar of the European Commission.
In a warning letter sent to the Group, the Commission raised possible environmental concerns and consequences since this is in a ‘Natura’ protected area.
A representative of the Giovannis Group of Companies described as inaccuracies everything mentioned saying that permission for the extra floors has in fact been given but the remaining issue is a procedural one. He also added that it may seem that the hotel has seven floor but in fact the seventh floor is for the hotel’s auxiliary support and is not considered as a floor.
