An amount of EUR 183 000, which constitutes the receipts of a ten-day supermarket in Paphos, seems to have taken ownership and not delivered as it should have been, responsible for this supermarket chain. An arrest warrant was issued against her and last night she was located in Nicosia where she was arrested.
The case was reported to the Police by the managers of this supermarket chain, when during the last financial audit it was found that a gap of €183,000 between the receipts and those in the cashier appeared in their particular store in Paphos. The suspicions were directed against a 53-year-old woman who is in charge of funds for the operation in question and the case was reported to the Police.
According to the supermarket officials, this amount was embezzled between 9 and 19 October.
Following the complaint, the police obtained an arrest warrant for the 53-year-old, who was located on Friday night in Nicosia, arrested and taken to the Paphos Police Directorate where she was taken into custody. Later today she is expected to be brought before the Paphos District Court for issuing a detention order pending the investigation of the case.
According to police sources interviewed, she denies any involvement in the case, but gives no explanation for the €183,000 deficit recorded in her funds.
The investigations of the Paphos T.E.A. are continuing.
