The Police announce a cyprus campaign to control the use of seat belts and child/lifting seats with the ultimate aim of reducing serious and fatal injuries in road traffic collisions. The campaign will start tomorrow Monday 26 October and run until Sunday 8 November 2020. The aim of the campaign is to achieve through policing, the awareness of car drivers and passengers in the use of seat belts in both the front and rear seats, as well as the use of child and lifting seats.
The safety belt remains the most effective safety feature in motor vehicles. According to the analysis of available statistics for the three years 2017 – 2019, 55.56% of dead drivers and passengers of vehicles did not wear a safety belt.
