The Council of Ministers, among others, today dealt with the issue of deprivation of nationality for people naturalized through the JEP, according to government spokesman Kyriakos Kousios.
After studying the Kalogiros finding, the Ministerial decided to initiate a procedure for the deprivation of citizenship for a total of 7 persons. These persons had been naturalised and had concealed essential facts or had made false representations when submitting their application.
It was decided to forward the Commission's finding to the Chief of Police, who will carry out an audit of a total of 12 persons, in order to determine whether any of them are wanted for an offence that involves moral obscenity or carries a sentence of five years in prison.
The Home Secretary will then inform the Cabinet of the results of the Chief's inquiry in order to launch a procedure for deprivation of nationality.
It was also decided to send the Commission's findings to the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Tax Commissioner to investigate matters relating to their responsibilities.
Mr. Kusios recalled that the Attorney General has already sent the Commission's finding to the Chief of Police.
