LIMASSOL IS OUT OF CONTROL - THERE IS NO POINT IN TRACING ANYMORE

 Filenews 16 October 2020

The situation with the coronavirus has been dramatic in recent days, with cases on the rise and the problem mainly focused on Limassol.

According to the analysis of the data, the problem is mainly found in young people who are much more socialised than other groups of the population, so that they go out in the evening and in the morning to carry the virus to their workplaces. As geenews is able to know, the situation in Limassol has gone so far that tracing no longer makes sense.

The list of cases now touches many companies, but also public services. Yesterday it was known that there is a confirmed case of a prisoner and as a result about 30 people who have been in contact with him have been placed in self-contained custody. These are police officers of the TDS and the OPE, police officers in detention centres, lawyers, cellmates and others. Reports indicate that there are also cases at Customs, while about 20 people have been placed in self-contained isolation.

After a case was detected at Customs, the employees went outside their offices to be disinfected.

The Minister of Health is expected to inform the President of the Republic today, who, alarmed by the dangerous developments, has called an emergency meeting at the Presidential Palace tomorrow Saturday at 10:30 and it is not out of the question that there will then be announcements of new measures.

There are thoughts on measures at local level, such as closing cafes from 7 p.m., and there is currently no discussion of a curfew or lockdown in the format we experienced last March.
