CABINET TO GRANT SPECIAL ENTRY PERMITS TO SOME THIRD-COUNTRY WORKERS

Cyprus Mail 9 October 2020 - by George Psyllides

In a bid to meet the needs for domestic workers and farmhands, the cabinet has decided to start granting special entry permits to Cyprus to foreign nationals from countries whose citizens are currently banned because of the coronavirus.

A government statement said permits will be granted to people who are not from countries in categories A and B in a bid to meet the needs of the elderly and those belonging to vulnerable groups, but also in support of the farming sector.

Applications would have to be submitted by the employers who, after approval, would have to pay for part of the cost of the 14-day quarantine as well as two Covid tests.

Those arriving for work would also have to fill the special entry permit Cyprus Flight Pass, attaching the number of the permit issued by the immigration department and a payment receipt for the cost of quarantine.
