A yellow alert for heavy rain and strong thunderstorms throughout the island from 4 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon was issued on Monday by the Cyprus Met Office.
Rain is expected to be as heavy as 35cms per hour.
Winds will be moderate to strong, force 4 to 5 Beaufort, blowing easterly to north-easterly over slight to moderate seas.
Temperatures will rise to 24 C inland and in coastal areas and around 14 C in the mountains.
The fire hazard is high in all forest areas.
