He consumed large amounts of alcohol and took the wheel in his hands. Fortunately, he was spotted in time by members of the Police, resulting in him being brought before the court today, since it was found that he was not only under the influence of alcohol, but had consumed quantities eight times above the maximum permitted limit.
The 51-year-old resident of Paphos, of Pontian origin, was spotted by members of the Traffic Police in Chloraka. The vehicle he was driving was stopped on Thursday night for testing in an area of Chloraka and a preliminary alcohol test found an indication of 168 instead of 22mg, provided by law as the maximum allowed for drivers.
The final test to which the indication was submitted was 118mg and he was arrested. A file will be formed today and the 51-year-old will be brought before the Paphos District Court under the new road safety legislation.
