INFLUX OF CASES AT A SLAUGHTERHOUSE

The Ministry of Health informs that in the past few days three Veterinary Officers – Inspectors have been identified positive for the virus in a Slaughterhouse in Nicosia Province.

After being informed of the virus-positive individuals, the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit contacted the Slaughterhouse, informing them of the incidents. At the private initiative of the Directorate of slaughterhouse, sampling was carried out on all staff and the results of the laboratory examination will be completed tomorrow when the final number of cases will be revealed. According to the first update, however, there appears to be an influx of cases.

In addition, yesterday, a new incident of COVID-19 was detected in a Veterinary Officer - Inspector at a 2nd Slaughterhouse in nicosia province. The staff of the Slaughterhouse will undergo a laboratory examination immediately through the tracing process as a precaution.

At the same time, instructions were given by the Health Services of the Ministry of Health for the disinfection of the premises in both Slaughterhouses. In the 1st case instructions were given and the premises will remain closed for 48 hours until all examinations are carried out and the situation re-evaluated. The 2nd Slaughterhouse is not open at the weekend.
