A 72-year-old British national was killed on Wednesday in a head-on collision in the Peyia area of Paphos while a second man, 47, is in critical condition, police said.
Permanent resident Alan John Patrik Bearu, from Pano Arodes, died after his vehicle crashed head-on into a car driven by an Italian permanent resident of Paphos at around 3pm in the Pikni area of Peyia.
Police said one vehicle was headed towards Kathikas while the other to Peyia when they collided on a big bend of the road.
The two men had to be freed from the mangled wreckage by the fire service. They were rushed to hospital where the 72-year-old was pronounced dead.
The second driver suffer multiple injuries and is in critical condition.
The cause of the collision is under investigation, police said.
