The first online Global Moon Village Workshop & Symposium is being held in cooperation with the Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation (CSEO), the Moon Village Association (MVA) announced on Friday.
It will be broadcast from Nicosia on November 9 and 10.
“The workshop and symposium will present various matters for the growth of the moon village community and lunar activities, discussing on-going and planned moon programmes, and bringing together stakeholders and the lunar community,” MVA said.
“A big audience is expected from all over the world representing space and non-space companies, space agencies, international organisations, researchers and the wider public.”
The conference will be addressed by the heads of the world’s largest space agencies, such as the director of the UN Office for Space Affairs, the director-general of the European Space Agency, a senior NASA officer, their counterparts from India, China, Japan and many others.
“It is with great pleasure that we are hosting the first world online conference on the moon village from Cyprus. The conference would normally take place in Cyprus, but due to the pandemic was changed to being online,” CSEO head George Danos commented.
He explained CSEO in collaboration with the Moon Village Association is organising this conference aiming to bring together the collaborating bodies who are at the forefront of promoting the return of people to the moon and the creation of a permanent base on it.
“An additional purpose is to facilitate global cooperation, as well as the training and involvement of young scientists everywhere, in humanity’s grand vision of the moon.”
Participation in the conference is free.
For registration as well as more detailed information about the conference see the website mva2020.cseo.org.cy.
The CSEO was founded in 2012, with the goal of launching Cyprus into the space era and building the next generation of scientists, that would see Cyprus as a niche player in global space exploration initiatives, and would build an international collaboration with other space-faring nations in scientific, space and planetary missions.
Today it has over 1,000 registered researchers, scientists, educators and volunteers and over 60,000 followers on social media.
