The Ministry of Health informs that, according to an update received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, a total of 2,736 laboratory diagnoses identified 23 new cases of COVID-19 disease.
In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:
- Of 100 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 5 cases were identified.
- Of 1,756 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 10 cases were identified.
- Of 162 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 2 cases were identified.
- Of 488 samples taken through a private initiative, 4 cases were identified.
- Of 200 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 2 cases were identified.
In particular, they are:
- 10 x flights:
- One person came from Athens to Larnaca on 3/10.
- One person came from the East Midlands to Larnaca on 4/10.
- One person came from Liverpool to Larnaca on 4/10.
- Two people came from Kiev to Paphos on 4/10.
- One person came from Athens to Larnaca on 4/10.
- Two people came from London to Larnaca on 4/10.
- One person came from Krakow to Paphos on 4/10.
- One person came from London to Paphos on 4/10.
- 5 x tracing:
- Two people are from the family environment of an incident announced on 3/10 by referral from the PI due to symptoms.
- Two people are football players of ASIL Solution.
- The 5th person is a contact of the case detected as part of a preoperative check and announced on 3/10.
- 2 x referral by Personal Physician:
- A person who had symptoms (fever and headaches) and was referred for examination.
- The 2nd person works in the British Bases and manifested symptomatology (cough) on 3/10.
- 2 x Microbiological Laboratories of General Hospitals:
- The first person had a cough on 3/10.
- The second person had myalgia at 4/10.
- 4 x private initiative:
- One person did the test privately before starting work. He also reported a 2/10 runny nose.
- The 2nd person is from the family environment and is related to the case in point 1. He mentioned a runny nose from 1/10.
- Two people did the test through their employer.
In addition, the laboratory examination was carried out for 30 samples taken under the programme carried out by the Ministry of Justice and Public Order to check the staff working on the premises of the Courts laboratory tests, without the detection of a case.
Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 1,847.
In addition, eight people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at Famagusta General Hospital, three of them in the Increased Care Unit. Two patients remain intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital. In the other hospitals, a COVID-19 patient is hospitalized.
