Tayyip Erdogan and Ersin Tatar took advantage of the press conference to reopen the pipeline carrying water from Turkey to the occupied territories to announce the opening of part of Varosio beach.
The pre-election announcements were accompanied by a live line-up with Famagusta where the "Mayor" of the city spoke posing in front of excavators and other machines that had been transported there to show Tatar's readiness to proceed immediately to the opening.
The part of the beach to be given to the public is 1.5 km long and extends between the Palm Beach Hotel and the beach that has been used for years by occupying army officers and their families.
