Turkey’s seismic research vessel Barbaros on Friday appeared to be sailing off Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone following Thursday’s partial opening of Varosha beach in the fenced city of Famagusta.
Philenews also reported that it was seen moving westwards from Turkish-held Kyrenia’s coast.
A Navtex issued by Turkey for illegal seismic research within the Republic’s EEZ was valid until October 19.
Philenews also said the Republic’s authorities are closely monitoring the situation and that according to reliable information the vessel is not confronted with any technical problems.
