THURSDAY - A FURTHER 11 CASES WERE DETECTED - MAKING 104 IN TOTAL FOR THE DAY

A further 11 cases of coronavirus were detected on Thursday night in Cyprus, following the 93 announced earlier by the Ministry of Health.

The total number of current incidents is 104, including 11 reported by the Contracting Laboratories.

Earlier, the following laboratory tests had been announced:

  • Through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 303 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
  • Through a private initiative, 1,386 laboratory tests were carried out,
  • In the context of the screening of passengers and repatriated persons, 1,156 laboratory tests were completed,
  • Of the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 151 laboratory tests were completed,
  • From samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff, 59 laboratory tests were completed,
  • As part of the laboratory testing programme carried out in villages of Larnaca and Famagusta Provinces, 240 laboratory diagnoses were carried out,
  • As part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and the control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics, 165 laboratory diagnoses were carried out,
  • From samples taken under the laboratory testing programme carried out in nursing homes and other structures, 179 laboratory diagnoses were carried out, and
  • Samples taken as part of a sample check carried out by the COP in Associations participating in its competitions completed 238 laboratory tests.

Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 2,274.

In addition, five people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at Famagusta General Hospital. In addition, two patients remain intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital. In the remaining hospitals, two COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in a ward.
