The Ministry of Health announces that, according to an update received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, a total of 3,414 laboratory diagnoses identified 35 new cases of COVID-19 disease.
In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:
- Of 415 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 14 cases were identified.
- Of 49 samples taken under the migrant structure control programme, 2 cases were identified.
- Of 140 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 2 cases were identified.
- Of 872 samples taken through a private initiative, 15 cases were identified.
- Of 998 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 1 case was identified.
- Of 101 samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff, 1 case was identified.
Specific:
- One person is in contact with the case announced by a private initiative yesterday and who had contact with a colleague without being named.
- One person is contacted from the family environment of the case announced by airport checks and had travelled from Manchester to Paphos on 30/9.
- One person is in contact of the student at a primary school in Famagusta Province that was announced on 1/10. And today's person is a student at the same school, but she was confined because of her contact with the other child.
- One person is a contact of the employees of a Foundation in nicosia province. The chain has 11 people.
- Three people are case contacts announced on 7/10. Yesterday one of the cases announced by a private initiative due to symptoms was also linked to the same case. Two of today's individuals are contacts from the family environment of the first case. Total in the cluster we have 5 people.
- One person is in contact with yesterday's case.
- Two people are contacts from the family environment of the employee of limassol General Hospital announced on 8/10.
- One person is a student of the TEPAK. It's being investigated if it's related to the other student who was spotted on 8/10.
- One person is contacted from the workplace of cases announced on October 5 and 9. On 7/10, another 3 people were announced from the family environment of the case on 5/10. Total cluster has 6 people.
- Two people are contacts announced yesterday by a private initiative with symptoms from 7/10. They both work in the same place.
- 15 cases by sampling by private initiative:
- Three people are Czech national football players who were in Cyprus for a match with the Cyprus National and would leave to compete in Israel. They did the check carried out on the teams' missions by UEFA.
- One person has a travel history in England and reported being contacted abroad.
- Five people are from the same workplace and are also linked to a case announced yesterday.
- One person did the test due to symptoms (fever).
- One person came from England on 4/10 and developed symptoms (cough, fever, iosmia, myalgia) yesterday.
- One person is a student at the TEPAK who was announced by the University itself on 8/10. The Ministry was declared today by the workshop.
- One person did the test because of symptoms. He's still under investigation.
- One person had symptoms (fever) on 8/10.
- One person returned from England on 4/10 and since 5/10 has symptoms (runny nose).
- 2 cases from the Microbiological Laboratories of General Hospitals: These are people who visited the Hospital because their child had a health problem. They were tested so they could be with their hospitalized child. The kid's negative.
- 1 case of flight: This is a person who came from Athens to Larnaca on 9/10.
- 1 case from the school screening program: This is a student in Limassol who was quarantined because he was contacted by extracurricular activity of the cases detected in the Province in the previous period. The test he took through tracing was negative.
- 2 case from the migrant structure control program: These are people from Syria who are at the migrant shelter in Pornara.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- From samples taken under the programme of referrals from Personal Physicians and special team control through the Public Health Clinics, 257 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
- From samples taken under the laboratory control programme carried out in nursing homes and other structures, 98 laboratory diagnoses were carried out,
- From samples taken as part of the laboratory testing programme carried out in villages of Larnaca and Famagusta Provinces, 245 laboratory tests were completed, and
- From samples taken as part of a sample check carried out by the COP on associations participating in its competitions, 239 laboratory diagnoses were carried out.
Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases is 1,984.
In addition, three people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus are being treated at Famagusta General Hospital. In addition, two patients remain intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital.
