Thirteen are the current cases of coronavirus announced by the Ministry of Health which informs that, according to the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit, a total of 3,177 laboratory diagnoses have identified 13 new cases of COVID-19 disease.
Virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:
- Of 202 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 2 cases were identified.
- Of 1,226 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 2 cases were identified.
- Of 228 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 1 case was identified.
- Of 781 samples taken through a private initiative, 6 cases were identified.
- Of 224 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 2 cases were identified.
Details of the incidents:
- 1 from Microbiological Laboratories of General Hospitals:
- He is a student at a private school in Limassol Province where other students were located. With some of the other virus positive children had contact in extracurricular activity. He has no symptoms.
- 2 by tracing:
- One person is from the family environment of the case announced on 2/10 by the Microbiology of the General Hospitals.
- The second person is a close contact with a case that tested positive for the virus on 28/9. He is a student at a high school in Limassol Province, but was absent from school because he was in contact.
- 2 of flights:
- These are two people who came from Poland on 3/10.
- 6 by private initiative:
- One person came from Italy on 23/9 and had symptoms (minds) from 26/9.
- One person came from Russia on 21/9 and did the examination on the 12th day to be released from quarantine in accordance with the relevant Decree.
- One person is a student at a High School in Limassol and did the examination privately due to other cases found in a place where he is doing extracurricular activity.
- One person developed symptoms on 2/10 (fever and myalgia).
- One person came from Serbia on 3/10 with a negative test he had done before travelling (1/10). He repeated the examination privately in Cyprus.
- For the 6th person there is currently no data, because he could not be detected either by the tracing team or by the private workshop.
- 2 from referrals from a Personal Physician:
- One person developed symptoms on 1/10 (fever, sore throat, headaches).
- The 2nd person has a travel history in Paris on 27/9. On 30/9 he developed symptoms (sore throat and loss of taste).
Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 1,824.
In addition, eight people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Famagusta General Hospital, three of whom are in the Increased Care Unit. In the other hospitals, a COVID-19 patient is hospitalized.
