THE BRITISH REAL ESTATE AGENT HAS BEEN SPOTTED AND SPOKEN TO

Filenews 21 October 2020 - by Myrto Zoubidou

Important developments have taken place around the Cyprus passport case and the publication of Al Jazeera's gold passport video. British real estate agent Tony K. was spotted by the authorities in the free Famagusta area and has already given a statement on what he knows, leading to the opening of the way for the investigation to be extended.

According to "F" information, the British ex-policeman is considered a key figure in the case being investigated by a team of investigators from the POLICE Headquarters, after allegedly knowing persons and situations. He is shown in the Al Jazeera network video talking about the way he was promoting his affairs, suggesting that some were being harassed. Immediately after receiving the testimony from the Brit (the investigators saw him twice) the investigative team under the Assistant Chief of Operations Dimitris Demetriou, had a meeting with the General and the Assistant Attorney General of the Republic for information and instructions. During the briefing of Giorgos Savvidis and Savvas Angelides, reference was made to the data collected so far around the long-running case, as well as to the files and documents received by the Interior Ministry and other agencies.

According to the same information, Mr Savvides, after listening to the investigators, gave guidance on the next steps so that the investigation could proceed quickly but methodically.

Due to the amount of work to be done, the investigative team was reinforced with five other investigators, while information from "F" indicates that letters have been sent - requests to Al Jazeera, in which his two journalists are invited to come to Cyprus to give testimony in relation to what they recorded with the hidden cameras in the conversations they had with the resigned Dimitris Syllouris , Christakis Giovanis and lawyer Andreas Pitatzis. It is noted that after the video was made public, investigators got a job, under the weight of both the popular demand for clearance, as well as the instructions of the Chief of Police to complete the investigations quickly and with confidentiality.

As "F" wrote, all files on naturalized and investment cases involving the Giovanni group were requested from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to see if there was anything wrong, while deposits will also be taken by ministry officials involved in the investment programme. Documents will be obtained from the Registrar of Companies, while the taking of deposits continues to form the background for the investigations to begin.

Yesterday, Police spokesman Christos Andreou did not rule out the possibility of strengthening the investigative team, if required, use of experts.
