POSITIVE TO A DRUG TEST - POLICE CHIEF REVOKES PRIVATE GUARD LICENCE

The Chief of Police, on the basis of the powers conferred on him by the relevant legislation, today proceeded to revoke the licence to practise the profession of private guard, by a 24-year-old, who tested positive for a drug test.

The 24-year-old security guard, who works for a private security services company, at around 10.45pm. yesterday, he was driving his car on a road in Paphos province. The vehicle was stopped by members of the police force for inspection. A drug test was carried out on the driver, with a positive indication of cannabis, and then a saliva sample was taken from the 24-year-old to be sent for final examination.

The 24-year-old's vehicle was also carrying a 17-year-old woman, who was arrested for a felony after a quantity of cannabis weighing about 0.36 grams was found in her possession. She was taken to the offices of YKAN, where she was questioned in the presence of her parents and after being charged in writing, she was released to be summoned to court.

YKAN (Paphos District) and Paphos Traffic continue the examinations.
