Cyprus Mail 20 October 2020 - by Gina Agapiou

People crossing to the north from the government-controlled areas who intend to stay for more than three days must remain in quarantine for a week, Turkish Cypriot authorities have announced.

According to the an announcement by the ‘health ministry’ late on Monday, those who wish to cross to the north and stay for more than three days will fill out a commitment form at the crossing, saying they must remain in a quarantine centre for seven days.

“Criminal proceedings will be taken against people who fill out the form and do not comply with their commitments,” it added.

The new measures are in force starting Tuesday, October 20, in addition to the measures already in force.

Random testing will continue to be carried out on those who cross for work, education and health reasons, the announcement added.

Those who visit the northern part of the island for other reasons must present a negative Covid-19 test, taken within the last three days.
