ENGLISH UNIVERSITIES RESPOND 'YES' TO RETENTION OF EXISTING FEES FOR 20221/22 TO MALES DOING MILITARY SERVICE

The Cyprus Association of Educational Advisers, CSES, in a statement says that it has obtained from the Office of European and International Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth, the list of British universities that have responded (positively or negatively) to the letter from the Ministry of Education to maintain the existing tuition fees for the next academic year (2021-2022) to males currently serving their military service.


Universities are:

• Positive response (Maintenance of tuition fees at the existing level, for male candidates who are required to serve their military service):

- University of Bath,

- University of Bolton,

- Birkbeck-University of London,

- University of Exeter (yes, for those who have already secured a job offer and suspended attendance for 2021; new applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis),

- Queen Margaret University,

- University of Stirling,

- University of Leicester (for all Europeans, for another year),

- University of Warwick (for males applying in 2020 for admission in 2021),

- University of Reading,

- University of Suffolk,

- University of Lincoln,

- York St. John's University (for all Europeans, for another year),

- University of Kent (for all European young people who have an obligation to serve their country in 2020),

- University of Bedfordshire (subject to conditions, i.e. they have accepted the position offered to them and will pay, by the end of October 2020, 50% of the tuition fees for the following year),

- University of Essex,

- Royal Holloway-University of London, (for all Europeans)

- University of Buckingham (pending final approval by a competent committee)

• Granting scholarships to foreign or European EU students:

- Brunel University London,

- Guildhall School of Music and Drama,

- Nottingham Trent University,

- University of Essex,

- University of St Andrews,

- University of Liverpool (under consideration, for European students),

- University of Sheffield,

- University of Leeds,

- Glasgow School of Art,

- University of Essex

• Reserved to reply:

- University of Aberdeen,

- University of Bradford,

- University of Bristol,

- University of Cumbria,

- London School of Economics,

- Northumbria University,

- University of Salford,

- University of Edinburgh,

- University of Bristol,

- University of Roehampton,

- University of Strathclyde,

- University of Wolverhampton,

- Swansea University,

- University of the West of England,

- Oxford Brookes University,

- University of Hull,

- University of Portsmouth

In addition, the CSES wants to inform the public that for the next academic year, some universities have already announced that they will keep tuition fees at the same levels as this year, while others will offer discounts and/or scholarships to European students.

"As you can see, the list of universities that have responded positively to the 2020 2nd ESSO soldiers' request and also the list of universities that will keep tuition fees at the same level as this year or that will give scholarships and/or discounts is constantly changing and we therefore urge interested parents and students to contact our members for a more up-to-date update," the statement concludes.
