The use of a mask in all enclosed spaces where there are more than two people will be adopted as an emergency measure to deal with the dangerous spread of the pandemic in Cyprus. "It is only a matter of time before we lose control," said the Minister of Health, Konstantinos Ioannou, after the conclusion of the meeting at the Ministry of Health, on the occasion of the explosion in the new cases of coronavirus.
As a result of the record recorded yesterday in the new incidents, the Members of the Scientific Team attended a meeting today to intercept the derailment of the country's epidemiological image.
The Minister, referring to cases of people trying to fool the measures, for example football teams, said that the only treatment available is the observance of distancing measures and protocols: HANDS – MASKS – DISTANCE.
It appealed to young people, as they adhere to public health measures. "Let's think about their parents, their grandparents, health professionals," he said.
At the same time, it also appealed to employers or businesses to respect the protocols. "It has to be a collective effort," he said.
As he said, we must all understand that this must become part of our daily lives. "If there is no cooperation from all citizens, we will not get the desired result," he said.
Today at the extraordinary meeting with the epidemiological team, an assessment of the situation was carried out and geographically.
The Minister pointed out that the measures in force in the various provinces are quite close to being respected.
As an additional measure, the use of a mask is adopted in all enclosed spaces, where they coexist beyond two persons.
At the same time, Mr Ioannou referred to an agenda that is being prepared and will involve all ministries, all bodies, in order to have a necessary sensitivity to compliance with the protocols.
