BOC - ONLY ONLINE PAYMENTS OF UTILITY BILLS - wef 26 October

Cyprus Mail 21 October 2020 - by Staff Reporter

Announcing new measures to protect clients and personnel from the Covid-19 pandemic, Bank of Cyprus said on Wednesday that it will stop accepting payment of utility bills at its counters in order to reduce footfall at its branches.

The new measures will come into force on October 26.

Clients can pay their utility bills, permit renewals, fines, municipal fees etc, easily, safely and at no cost through ibank or directly on JCC Smart, it said.

However, payments can be made at the counter for government departments or VAT and other isolated cases for which payments digitally are not possible. The bank will also continue to accept payment for its Factors, General Insurance of Cyprus, Eurolife and IATA.

The Bank of Cyprus is encouraging all its clients to use digital channels, saying transactions carried out at the branches can be done online.

It also reminded the importance of ATMs to withdraw cash (the daily limit has been increased to €2000) and to deposit cash and cheques.
