160 NEW CASES - FRIDAY

Out of a total of 4,327 laboratory diagnoses, 160 new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, the Ministry of Health announced after being informed by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit by contracting laboratories.

In detail, today's cases emerged as follows:

  • Of 527 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 51 cases were detected.
  • Of 2,281 samples taken through a private initiative, 89 cases were detected.
  • Of 185 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 3 cases were detected.
  • Of 70 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 3 cases were identified.
  • Of 946 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 10 cases were identified .
  • Of 156 samples taken under the laboratory testing programme carried out in nursing homes and other structures, 4 cases were identified.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • Samples taken as part of a sample check carried out by the COP on Associations participating in its competitions completed 7 laboratory diagnoses,
  • From samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff, 124 laboratory tests were completed,
  • From a program carried out by the Ministry of Justice and Public Order to check the staff working on the premises of the Courts, we have had a result for 9 samples, and
  • From samples taken as part of the migrant structure control programme, 22 laboratory tests were completed.

Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 3314.

In addition, 22 people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at Famagusta General Hospital, four of whom are in the Increased Care Unit. In addition, two patients are still being treated in the Nicosia General Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit, while two other people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward.

Eleven cases in the occupied territories

Eleven positive cases in 2,051 diagnostic tests in the last 24 hours were detected in the occupied areas, while 10 patients were discharged.

As broadcast from the occupied territories, the "Ministry of Health" announced that 10 are domestic cases and one was quarantined.

The total number of cases is 885, under treatment is 66 people, none in intensive care.
