The random sampling of 10,000 people in all provinces began yesterday and will be completed within 15 days. The aim of the programme is to establish, in real time, the situation with regard to the extent of transmission of the SARs-CoV-2 virus in the community.
Sampling will be carried out by mobile unit in all Provinces, but without announcing the exact location and time to be sampled, in an effort to limit the attendance of people who either have symptoms or are in close contact with other cases and to extract representative results, through a truly random sample.

For the successful completion of the programme, the findings of which will partly determine the government's subsequent plans, citizens are encouraged to participate voluntarily in the sampling.
