Şok diyetinin yapılma mantığı gayet basittir ancak bunu uygulamak için yaptığınızdan haberiniz olmamalıdır. Ne dediğimi anlamadığınızdan eminim. Şimdi bir örnek ile açıklayalım;

Average maximum temperatures in July were the hottest recorded in Cyprus for more than 30 years.
According to an official announcement on Wednesday:  “In July 2017 extremely high temperatures were recorded all over Cyprus.”

“Specifically, the mean provisional daily maximum temperatures of Nicosia, Prodromos, Paphos, Larnaca and Paralimni are a record of high temperatures of July and rank July 2017 as the hottest for at least the last 30 years,” it added.

Temperatures in July reached a high of 45°C in Nicosia with the official measurement at the city’s
Athalassa measuring station 39.3°C. In Paphos the highest temperature for the month it was 32.2°C and in Aradippou near Larnaca it was 36.5°C.

Last month included the hottest July day on record in Cyprus, 45°C on Sunday, July 2.
The highest maximum temperature on record in Cyprus was 45.6 °C recorded at Athalassa in Nicosia on August 1, 2010.

Extreme heat in July contributed to the deaths of three elderly people with chronic health problems and the hospitalisation of at least seven more.

RED MOON TO GRACE CYPRUS ON MONDAY 7 AUGUST [as a result of the lunar eclipse]

From inCyprus 3 August 2017

Cyprus will witness a partial lunar eclipse on Monday night which will be the first astronomical phenomenon of the summer and will see the moon turn red.

According to Chrysanthos Fakas, who is the President of the Cyprus Astronomical Society, the event will be visible with the naked throughout the island after sundown.

“During a lunar eclipse, the earth moves between the moon and the sun and subsequently hides the moon from the sun, in other words, the moon is shaded by the earth,” explains Fakas.  “The phenomenon starts at 8.22pm on Monday when the moon will slowly start changing colour turning reddish instead of becoming invisible,” explained Fakas.

The peak of the lunar eclipse will be noted at 9:20pm while the moon is expected to start moving out of the earth’s shadow at 10:18pm.

On the occasion of the phenomenon, the Fakas Institute observatory in Nicosia will be open to the public who can witness the eclipse as well as the planets Jupiter and Saturn through the institute’s telescope.

CYPRUS AWAITS PERSEID METEOR SHOWER - 12 August

From inCyprus - 3 August 2017

A meteor shower is set to light up the Cyprus night sky on August 12, according to the Cyprus Astronomical Society (ASTREK).

The Perseid Meteor Shower, which started on July 12 and is set to continue until August 24, will be most visible on August 12. According to data released by NASA, the meteor shower will be at its densest on that day with the meteors reaching speeds of up to 59km per second.

“They travel the distance between Nicosia and Larnaca in less than one second,” said ASTREK President Chrysanthos Fakas.

The Perseids can be seen in the Northern Hemisphere. Look between the radiant, which will be in the northeast part of the sky, and the zenith (the point in the sky directly above you).

The best time to see the Perseids is after 11 pm when the radiant will be at its highest and the moon will start its descent. The Perseids are space debris from the Swift-Tuttle comet and appear as the earth moves through the comet’s orbit around the sun.

In light of the occasion, ASTREK will be holding an astronomy evening in the courtyard of Ayiou Arseniou church in Kyperounda on Saturday, August 12 between 9 pm and 9.30 pm and is open to the public.

Stargazers will have the opportunity to experience this astronomical phenomenon with the aid of telescopes while also taking the opportunity to see the planets of Jupiter and Saturn (after 10.30pm) and other constellations.

GREENS CRITICISE CONCERTS AT PROTECTED APHRODITE'S ROCK

From Cyprus Mail - article by Bejay Browne 3 August 2017

AS Paphos prepares for two sell out concerts, which are highlights of Pafos2017, environmentalists are hitting out at authorities for giving permission for the events to be held at Petra tou Romiou, one of the most protected areas in Cyprus.

The Paphos branch of the Green party issued a statement on Wednesday criticising the creation of temporary seating and a stage in the area on Tuesday.

Legend has it that Petra tou Romiou, also known as Aphrodite’s rock, is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and fertility.

“The rig positioning at Aphrodite’s Rock, which covers a foreshore area and also extends into the sea, is a provocative move, obviously destructive to the natural environment, and which under any circumstances cannot be tolerated,” the Greens said in a statement.

Paphos Green party secretary, Andreas Evlavis, told the Cyprus Mail that fork lifts and other machinery were at the ancient site on Tuesday and work crews were constructing the stage and seating, much to the surprise of the hundreds of visitors who had gone to the area, expecting to find a peaceful beach.  He said there are also concerns that the concerts are opening the way for other similar events in the future, and that the natural setting of the historic site must be preserved.
“It’s not necessary to hold events here and say it’s promoting culture. This is not the right place, or the right time for an event.”  “Aphrodite’s rock does not need promoting, it is one of the most historic and popular areas of Cyprus. It is part of our heritage and a very sensitive area and we should be protecting it,” he said.

The concerts are due to be held on August 4 and 5 and a large audience is expected to attend.
“No building is allowed in this area and umbrellas are not even permitted on the beach. I don’t understand why the authorities gave permission for these events,” he said.

Evlavis added that an international beauty contest due to be held at the site a number of years ago raised huge objections as soon as work got underway to facilitate the event, and a large demonstration prevented it from going ahead.  “What will happen when someone else wants to hold an event here after these concerts and they use this as a precedent,” he said.  Evlavis suggested that Curium or the ancient amphitheatre in Kato Paphos would have been more suitable venues.

In addition, at an area close by the Green party also said a handful of pine trees were cut to make way for an artist’s creations and give a better view.  “The local community, and the whole of Cyprus requires explanations concerning the relevant department’s approval and for the idea that Pafos2017 sacrifice the natural environment for the sake of the supposed promotion of culture. If anything this move proves that both of the two entities are unable to fulfil their role.”

And From inCyprus 2 August 2017:

The construction of a grandstand and stage by the Pafos 2017 organisers at Aphrodite’s Rock (Petra Tou Romiou) for concerts this weekend has raised concern among environmental groups.
Organisers have constructed a 1,000-seat grand stand at the mythical birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite in light of two concerts set to be performed on Friday and Saturday as part of the Pafos 2017 – European Capital of Culture celebrations.

The grandstands have already been constructed and the stage extends into the sea to a depth of one metre while electrical and sound installations are set to be installed on Wednesday before being inspected by the Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC) and the Electromechanical Services.
Environmentalists are concerned of the sea pollution and the pressure of so many visitors on a very much protected area.

It seems that the organisers have only received permission from the Forestry Department to stage the event.

According to Forestry Department Director Takis Tsindites, permission was given to the organisers of Pafos 2017 despite the area being a NATURA 2000 site.  He did however note, that had the request been made by a private concern, it would have been denied.

Environmental Department Director Costas Hadjipanagiotou noted that his department was only made aware of the concert on Tuesday after receiving an e-mail to that effect from the organisers.
Hadjipanagiotou stated that the Department cannot approve the event after the stands have already been constructed, and does not sanction concerts on the water as it is impossible for them to take place without any environmental impact.

Similar requests by the Pafos 2017 organisers to hold concerts at the sea caves in Peyia have been denied by the Environmental Department.

The site on which the concert is to be held, is in a protected planning zone as well as within a protected coastal area and an area close to a protected site.  It also falls within the Randi State Forest and within the NATURA 2000 site Cape White-Aphrodites Rock and has been declared an Area of Social Importance for the natural habitats of fauna and flora as well as a Special Protected Zone for wild birds.  Environmentalists argue that the concert will take place during the middle of the nesting period of the Eleonora’s falcon.

The area between Cape White and Aphrodite’s Rock is considered to be the most important nesting grounds for Eleonora’s falcon in Cyprus and the concerts will have a negative impact on the nesting birds in the area.

CO-ORDINATED ANIMAL WELFARE POLICY ON ITS WAY

From Cyprus Mail  - article by CNA News Service - 2 August 2017

President Nicos Anastasiades is to announce soon the government’s comprehensive policy on animal welfare, the agriculture ministry said on Wednesday.

The ministry said in an announcement that the cabinet approved on Wednesday a €75,000 budget for additional financial assistance towards the stray animals neutering scheme. The additional amount will bring the total budget for the scheme to €125,000.

According to the agriculture ministry, the cabinet also approved in a previous meeting, the establishment of a service that would deal with animal welfare.   “The aim is to resolve the standing problems resulting from the fragmentation of the laws and responsibilities of the (state) services as well as the inability to implement the relevant laws,” it said.  “Animal welfare is one of the top priorities of the government,” it said.

The proposal is being processed by the agriculture ministry in cooperation with the interior ministry, the volunteerism and environment commissioners, the consultant of the agriculture ministry on animal welfare and non-governmental organisations.

“All animal welfare NGOs will participate and contribute to this procedure,” the ministry said,
It added that at the same time, the justice ministry is working on introducing an animal welfare police corps.

President Nicos Anastasiades, the announcement said, will soon make a “detailed presentation of a comprehensive policy on animal welfare which will effectively resolve all standing issues”.

NEW ELECTRICITY TARIFFS SHOULD BENEFIT MOST CONSUMERS

From Cyprus Mail - article by Elias Hazou 2 August 2017

State-run power company EAC on Wednesday announced that its new tariffs, which it says are expected to benefit most categories of electricity consumers, will be coming into effect as of September 1.

The utility has restructured its tariffs, cutting the number of different rates charged from 30 to 11.
The new tariffs are: three for domestic customers (including one for vulnerable social groups); one for small commercial customers; one for small industrial customers; one for small commercial/industrial customers (STOD low voltage); one for large commercial/industrial customers (STOD medium voltage); one for very large commercial/industrial customers (STOD high voltage); one for street lighting; one for water pumping; and one for storage heaters.

STOD stands for ‘Seasonal Time Οf Day’, a tariff where the price of electricity charged depends on the season and the time of day that electricity is consumed.

Adjustments to consumers’ electricity bills, arising from fluctuations in the price of fuel during each billing period, will continue to apply.

Based on the new tariff methodology, EAC said, most customer categories will benefit from an average reduction of about four per cent.  There are certain categories, however, such as storage heaters, water pumping, street lighting and large industrial customers, for which the new cost-orientation methodology would have led to increases.

In November 2016, EAC held a public consultation on the issue, with customers submitting comments and suggestions.  In response, and in order to give time to all consumers affected by the above increases to adapt to the new state of affairs, EAC will be covering the cost of the resulting increases, until the operation of the new electricity market or for the next four years, whichever comes first.

The new tariffs have been posted on EAC’s website (coming soon in English).  Monthly bills featuring the new tariffs will be issued from October 1, and bi-monthly bills from November 1.
The EAC will be holding a press conference on August 29 to explain the new tariffs in more detail.
According to the energy regulator’s tariff methodology, EAC is obliged to review the structure of its tariffs every five years. Regarding the charge element of the tariffs, this will be reviewed every year on the basis of the EAC’s revenues, subject to the energy regulator’s approval.
