Ben pırıl pırıl bir gemiydim eskiden.İnanırdım saadetli yolculuklara.Adalar var zannederdim güneşli, mavi, dertsiz.Bütün hızımla koşardım dalgalara.O zaman beni görseydiniz.(...)Şimdi o akşam saatinde/ Dönüyorum görmüş, geçirmiş, atlatmış,/Denizlerin doymayan sahilinde...

ÇANAKKALEDE ÖLÜM - FAZIL HÜSNÜ DAĞLARCA
Şiirler

Sen ölüm,
Evlerde pissin ama,
Dağlarda iğrençsin.

Sen ölüm,
Birinin adı silinir de,
Adın geçer ancak.

Sen ölüm,
Eli tutmaz olur da, gözü görmez olur da
Tutarsın, görürsün oralarda ancak.

Sen ölüm,
Ülkelerde kötüsün ya
Ülkeler arası daha çirkinsin.

Sen ölüm,
Sayrılıklardan sonra gelirsin peki,
Şu dev gibi, su dipdiri gençlerle işin nedir?

DANGEROUS CATERPILLARS

At the moment there are brown hairy caterpillars in gardens, fields and forests. There are two types:

The March or Woolly Bear Caterpillar and the Eastern Pine Processionary Caterpillar (the ones that join in long chains).

These should NOT be touched with bare hands, nor should dogs be allowed to sniff around them as they are extremely dangerous. The Eastern Pine Processionary Caterpillar is especially dangerous, as it has hollow hairs that contain toxins that can cause severe allergic skin irritation.
The hairs of the caterpillars can give skin irritation and have a particularly bad effect on dogs that stick their noses into the cluster.

To clarify, these are often misidentified as the Eastern Pine Processionary Caterpillar (Thaumetopoea wilkinsoni). These are the caterpillars seen in pine tress (see fourth image) and they have hairs that are hollow and filled with an irritating toxin. When touched the hairs abrade or penetrate the skin and toxin enters the body, resulting in very severe skin irritation.

Window Plant

This cute little plant is actually a grapefruit, it resides on the kitchen window sill.
Our Grandma gifted it to us after she poked six grapefruit seeds in a pot and they all came up! She has the brightest green thumb in the world.

Training Hard VS. Training Smart

For some people, finding the motivation to get to the gym can be incredibly difficult. Others, I have found, seem to have the opposite problem. Perhaps you've found that you feel guilty if you don't workout one day. Maybe you constantly feel sore, but you don't want to stunt your progress.

Last week, in one of my classes, one of the members came up to me and said "I'm feeling really out of it today; I'm not sure why!" I looked and her and asked, "What did you do before this?" She responded "Well, I took spin class for an hour and then went for a swim." I had a pretty good idea of why she was feeling tired! She went on, "Well yesterday, I was able to run for two hours and then swim without a problem!

This woman was tough, but maybe to the point of stupidity. She was a former Iron Man competitor, and never gave herself time to recover. She was wearing herself down day after day, thinking she was doing something positive for her body, when her body desperately wanted some rest.

After class, I puller her a side and tried to explain to her the value of rest. I told her that without allowing the Central Nervous System and her muscles the chance to recover, she was doing her body a disservice. Unfortunately, my explanation with her seemed to go over her head.

More isn't always more!

Exercise places stress not only on the muscles,
but also on the Central Nervous system.
Trust me, I've been there. Usually on my rest days, I just want to go to the gym and lift. I've lifted when I should've taken a day away from the gym. Now, I've decided to try listening to my body and taking days off as I need them.

Exercise places a tremendous stress on the body. The muscles need to rebuild themselves and adapt. If we keep wearing them down without allowing them to repair, depriving ourselves of sleep, and then getting up and doing it all over again, over time, your body will send you to a screeching halt.

If you feel constantly sore, exhausted, and your results are plateauing, perhaps you need to have a little more down time!

I know you have goals. Whether you want to compete in your first figure competition or lose 10 pounds for your wedding, you have to be patient. You will see results if you put in the work. If your body needs some rest, though, there's no need to feel guilty for obliging. You're not going to be able to make progress if you're injured! It's one thing to push yourself through a grueling workout, but it's another when
you have to do that day after day. If you still want to be active, go for a hike or try a yoga class. Chill.

Think about it this way: if you've had some time to recover, you can push yourself even harder the next day, because you'll have more energy during your workout!

Train hard and train smart.

The Weekly Wrap

Well, this week did not go as planned!

On Monday, I awoke feeling rested, well, and ready to start the week. I was even up early, so I sipped on a cup of Dunkin Donuts bakery flavored coffee and watched a few episodes of Forensic Files.

When I got up to get ready for work, I made sure my hair was extra pretty for the day so I could take a picture of my new highlights. I went super dark back in January, and I absolutely love(d) it; but it faded so fast-- as dark usually does with my hair. I do not want to keep darkening it thus I decided to go with highlights and start the process of going back blonde.

Around 10 AM, I started getting really nauseous. I endured some pretty rough side effects from a medicine I am on, over the weekend, but I thought that was over, so I was unsure why I was feeling so bad.

Ten minutes after I started feeling bad, I threw up (TMI? Oh well). Afterwards, I felt better so I thought it was still just a side effects since I had been feeling bad over the weekend. A few minutes later I started feeling bad again. And well... I bet you can guess what happened. Over the course of two hours, I puked 7 times. I had to call it a day early and left for home at noon.

I spent the rest of day and evening sleeping. I felt absolutely awful. I was so sad, too. As you guys have read on my posts over the past two weeks, I have been sick a lot. I have cherished feeling "normal" and like myself again; so getting sick on Monday broke my heart.

Tuesday ended up being the same way. I did not throw up as much, but I only lasted at work until 3. I once again slept all afternoon and evening.. I also talked to my doctor and learned that yes, I am indeed still pushing through some side effects.

Fun, fun, I tell you.

Wednesday, I woke up feeling better -- much, much better, but I had a headache (dehydration) and felt weak (expected). I was determined to have a good day though, so I made myself up extra fun with red and brown eye shadow (I love this look) and a positive attitude (ha).
I made it through the day without throwing up!

I was uber tired after work though, and Johnathan worked 12 hours in the sunshine and 80 degree weather, so he was even more tired and drained than I was. Needless to say, we went to bed very early; J had started falling asleep on the couch at 6 PM anyway.

He is so cute when he sleeps, hehe.

Yesterday, I was back to normal, but still intensely fatigued (I am so damn tired of feeling tired all of the time), but I pushed through work and got caught up on everything.

Checks... invoices... bank reconciliations... credits... issues... make all of the numbers stop!

I did, however, have a nice little break in the afternoon and surprised my co-workers with an "ice-cream sundae" bar". There is nothing better than having happy employees! The weather was super gloomy, everyone has been working hard, and today is the first day of Spring, thus ice-cream just felt right. I opted for a low-sugar sherbet option so I could keep it healthier and still participate. Surprisingly (not), it was not a popular choice amongust the others. Ha.

Last night, I made sure I rested and relaxed, and I even watched "Crossroads" on Netflix. Man, that Britney movie brings back so many memories! I got in bed early and slept like a rock.

Today I feel the best I have felt all week! I feel back to me again. Plus, having my work caught up is a great feeling, especially when I had a ton going on. I am super happy it's Friday as I am ready for the weekend.

Plus, when you receive texts like this at work, how can it not be a great day?
