CYPRUS, FRANCE HOLD JOINT SEARCH AND RESCUE EXERCISE

Cyprus and France held a joint search and rescue operation at sea on Friday coordinated by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Larnaca.

The exercise, CYFRA 02/20, was held within the framework of cooperation to deal with search and rescue incidents and possible emergencies within the Republic of Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone and search and rescue area., the ministry of defence said.

Taking part were the French frigate Lafayette, a Cyprus military helicopter and specialized nurses from the state health services organisation.

This was the second such search and rescue exercise this year with the participation of Cyprus an French air and naval forces operating in the eastern Mediterranean.
