PAPHOS ELECTRIC BUS - FREE ROUTES TO THE GENERAL HOSPITAL

Filenews 26 October 2020 - by Dora Christodoulou

As part of its social offer to the citizens and especially to the elderly, the Municipality of Paphos proceeded to start another "social" route of the electric bus to and from the General Hospital of Paphos. And the new route will be offered free of charge to the public, in conjunction with the "green" routes already operated by the electric bus.

The route to the Hospital starts at 8.30 a.m., from the parking lot of the Ottoman Baths – Hammam and will be held three times a day, Monday to Friday as follows:

8:30 a.m. Departure from Ottoman Baths

9.00 a.m. Departure from Paphos General Hospital

10:45 a.m. Departure from Ottoman Baths

11:15 a.m. Departure from Paphos General Hospital

12.30 p.m. Departure from Paphos General Hospital

The "green" circular routes to the City Shopping Centre and Kato Paphos continue to be carried out as normal. The cycle of crossings at the mall starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends with a 3-minute waiting time at each stop. The public may board and disembark from the bus at the following stops:

Stop 1: Attica Carparking area

Stop 2: Archaeological Museum of Paphos

Stop 3: Mark Dragon Square

Stop 4: Administrative Square

The cycle of routes in Kato Paphos lasts about 20 minutes with a waiting time of 3 minutes at each stop. The routes start at 16.30 and end at 19.00, daily from Monday to Friday. The stops where passengers board and disembark are:

Stop 1: Panagia Chrysopolitissa

Stop 2: Agios Antonios Church

Stop 3: Municipal Bathrooms

Stop 4: Apostolos Pavlos Avenue (in front of tavern "Fat")

The vehicle has a total capacity of 20 people with provisions for People with Disabilities. It is the first electric bus in Cyprus and its operation by the Municipality of Paphos sends the strong message of environmental protection with the use of electrification.

The bus was supplied following a competition under the ECOROUTS project implemented under the Interreg V-A Cooperation Programme "Greece – Cyprus 2014-2020".
