FORTY ONE NEW CASES TODAY, MONDAY - 21 THROUGH CONTACT TRACING

The Ministry of Health informs that, according to an update received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, a total of 2,610 laboratory diagnoses identified 41 new cases of COVID-19 disease.

In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

  • Of 224 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 21 cases were identified.
  • Of 436 samples taken through a private initiative, 4 cases were identified.
  • Of 1,457 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 5 cases were identified.
  • Of 202 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 10 cases were detected.
  • Of 223 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 1 case was identified.

Specific:

  • 21 x tracing:
  1. One person is in contact from the workplace announced on 10/10 and is related to the cluster of salon in Limassol.
  2. One person is in contact from the same workplace with cases announced on 10/10.
  3. A person is in contact from the family environment.
  4. A person is in contact from the family environment.
  5. Five people are contacts of one of the two Radiographers at limassol General Hospital. The 4 people are from the family environment and the 5th is a radiologist who was negative at the first examination and then had symptoms and repeated the examination.
  6. Two people are contacts of the Microbiologist at the Limassol General Hospital.
  7. One person is a case contact announced on 9/10 with a fever from 6/10.
  8. One person is a case contact announced on 8/10.
  9. One person is a contact student of the University of Cyprus.
  10. Two people are the hairdresser's contacts.
  11. One person is contact with a Frederick University student.
  12. One person is a case contact announced on 10/10 with symptoms from 8/10 and travel history in the UK.
  13. One person is a case contact announced on 10/10 with a travel history in Ukraine.
  14. Two people are students at the TEPAK. One had fatigue and sore throat and the second had a fever, cough and sore throat.
  • 4 x private initiative:
  1. One person did the test because of symptoms. He was not cooperative, did not accept the result and refused to give his contacts, stating that he is in self-contained 4 weeks due to symptoms, however we do not know more information. They're going to try to talk to him again.
  2. One person did the examination due to symptoms from 4/10 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, myalgia, anosmia).
  3. One person did the test as a precaution, with no symptoms. He's a British man living in Paphos Province.
  4. One person did the test as a precaution, with no symptoms because he has a small child in his home.
  • 1 x Special Teams: This is a person who did the test as part of a preoperative check-up.
  • 5 x flights:
  1. Three people came from Sofia to Larnaca on 11/10.
  2. One person came from Berlin to Paphos on 11/10.
  3. One person came from Moscow to Larnaca on 11/10.
  • 10 x Limassol Microbiology:
  1. Six people are nursing students of the TEPAK who are doing an internship at the Limassol Hospital.
  2. One person is a 12-month-old infant whose mother had been reported in the previous days as a case. He's got a fever. He was transferred to Makarios.
  3. One person is a 17-day-old infant who has a fever and was transferred to Makarios.
  4. One person is the mother of the infant (17 days).
  5. One person had a fever and visited the Limassol TEP yesterday.

In addition, laboratory diagnoses were carried out for 68 samples taken as part of the laboratory testing programme carried out in nursing homes and other structures, without the detection of a case

Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases is 2,047.

In addition, three people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus are being treated at Famagusta General Hospital. In addition, two patients remain intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital. In the remaining hospitals, two COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in a ward.
