It was decided to take emergency measures for the Limassol and Nicosia Provinces, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in recent days, focusing on the Limassol and Nicosia Provinces, mainly recorded in workplaces and family gatherings, and with the aim of limiting the spread of the virus in the two Provinces and protecting public health, it was decided to implement emergency additional measures in the two regions as follows:
- Persons may be present at gatherings in homes and public gathering places, with the exception of dining areas, with a maximum of 10persons per house/group, including minor children.
- The church and other forms of religious worship in churches, churches and other religious sites, as well as religious ceremonies, are performed with a maximum number of persons 75persons, respecting the protocols applicable to places of religious worship.
- Matches may be held in sports facilities of the Nicosia and Limassol Provinces, within the framework of the sports leagues, without the presence of spectators, as long as the relevant protocols are respected. It is recommended that fans whose teams are based in other Provinces do not move from Nicosia and Limassol.
- The maximum number of persons allowed to be served in the catering premises in the Limassol and Nicosia Provinces is set at 75 people indoors and 150 people outdoors. In any case, the measure for keeping a distance of 3 m2 for interiors and 2 m2 for outdoor spaces per person, regardless of the square meters of each premises, remains in force. For example, if a dining area in the Limassol and Nicosia Provinces has 400 m2 outdoors and based on the measure to maintain a distance of 2 m2 per person, it could serve up to 200 people, the number of customers may not exceed 150. If a premises has 300 m2 indoors and based on the measure to maintain a distance of 3 m2 per person, it could serve up to 100 people, the number of persons may not exceed 75. It is understood that in any case no more than 10 people per table are allowed to be booked.
- Cinemas, theatres and theatres may be operated, with a maximum number of persons, with a maximum of 75 persons indoors and 150 persons outdoors, in any case respecting the guidelines and protocols.
- Cocktail party and congratulations on weddings and christenings are forbidden. Only the physical presence at a meal or dinner is allowed, with a maximum attendance of 350 people.
The above measures are regulated by an Order of the Minister of Health to be issued tomorrow with immediate effect. The measures will last for a period of 10 days, i.e. until the morning of Friday, 23 October.
In addition to the above measures to be implemented at local level in Limassol and Nicosia, an appeal is made to all employees and employees in Cyprus,as they consistently and rigorously adhere to the health protocols that exist for the various places/businesses. Recent results have shown that there are transmission chains in specific business premises, which shows that the directives are not properly applied in all cases.
In addition, we are once again stressed the need for everyone to be strictly diligent in matters of personal hygiene, and to pay particular attention to our movements and contacts with other people.
Finally, it is recalled to all citizens that, in case of developing symptoms (cough, fever, shortness of breath, immunity, tastelessness, dysgeusia), they must immediately contact their Personal Physician for further medical guidance.
