Canada Summer 2013: Montreal Place des Arts

August 15, 2013 -- On this day in Montreal I biked from Westmount down De Maisonneuve Boulevard to the end of the cycle path just past Place des Arts at Metro Station Saint-Laurent.

Place des Arts is a major performing arts center on the eastern edge of downtown Montreal. The center is home to the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and the Opéra de Montréal. The modern complex is enormous and includes six halls with theatres staging opera, symphony, ballet and other dance, chamber music, choral music, theatre, film presentation, and various other presentations and ceremonies.

The outdoor esplanade in front of Place des Arts was full of Montrealers enjoying the pleasant summer day. The esplanade is lit up in different colors at night and hosts concerts as part of the annual Montreal Jazz Festival.
