I buy races like I buy shoes. For a long time I hold out. I don't "need" anything. I am "trying to save money". And then...BOOM! All at the same time, I get three of them.
So, I signed up for:
A Half Marathon -- Sept 18
A 10 Mile Race -- Sept 25
A Half Marathon -- Oct 23
and I am considering...
A 20 Mile Run -- Dec 4
I am hoarding races now. (my precious!)
However, ALL of them are giving me a chance to see new friends and old!
I can't wait.

Labor Day weekend, the end of summer, the last chance to wear white.
How did it get here so fast?
Do you have any fun plans this weekend?

One of my best IRL friends just moved to Kansas City, which is about 5 hours from me. I am excited! We are trying to make plans to meet up somewhere in the next couple of months. It's amazing how hard it is to find a free weekend between the two of us! And strange how sometimes when you are closer together, you actually see each other less?!

I just finished the The Guernsey Literary Potato Pie Peel Society . Whoa. That's a mouthful! That makes 41 books for this year. You can go to my Bookshelf to see how I am doing in the Bookmark Break Challenge and what other books I've read so far!
How is your week going?
No EXCUSES!

You've been doing it for a while now, probably longer than you realize. Again and again, you come up with a reason why you're going to start TOMORROW.
Before you know it, you wake up one morning and you're 5 lbs, 10 lbs, or 15 lbs heavier than you were a few months ago!
Enough is enough. Now is the time to stop making excuses, to stop putting your fitness on hold, and to start working out.
Don't Let Age Get the Upper Hand
With every year that passes, your body conspires to make getting into shape harder. Your metabolism slows down as you age, adding weight that you'll have a harder time shedding. Your growth hormone production slows down, making it even more of a challenge! What might have been a snap at 20 will take more time and effort at 45 OR BEYOND (believe me, I KNOW).
Here's the good news: You CAN absolutely get fit at ANY age! BUT....the longer you put it off, the harder it will be to make those changes. Your body is more primed to respond to exercise right NOW, than it will be even 6 months from now. And, if you happen to be that person who starts working out today, know that soon enough you'll be fitter than a 20 year old who's sitting around still making excuses!
The Chicken or the Egg?
It could be that you're overweight and think you need to lose a few pounds before you start working out. So, you've decided that you're going to lose weight by dieting BEFORE you start an exercise program. You've even got a list of groceries to restock your fridge and pantry with and to start you on your way.
It's true that watching what you eat is a huge part of a fitter, trimmer life. But studies show that making the switch to healthier eating is easier when you're already working out regularly.
Exercise will cause you to crave healthier foods, encouraging a fit diet to come more naturally, and the pounds to melt off quicker!
Inactivity Makes You Even More Tired
Maybe you're waiting around until you feel less exhausted and fatigued by work, family, and everything else that goes on. Chances are, you will ALWAYS have a ton of things going to that will zap up your energy!
More good news: Exercise will INCREASE your energy throughout the day, so you will have more clarity and be able to get more done during your day You've just got to get the ball rolling!
It's a Mental Game
Fitness is about being proactive mentally AND physically - putting it off will actually psyche you out! Adding regular exercise isn't necessarily easy. But the longer you wait to begin working our regularly, the more insurmountable a challenge it will seem.
Put the kibosh on negativity before it starts to impact your drive to workout and live healthier! The little engine that could do did do because he was already doing.
Decide right now to stop your excuses and take the first step. Together we will come up with the perfect personalized fitness plan for you. It will be unique to your lifestyle and get you to your goals quickly.
Call or email TODAY and say goodbye to waiting until tomorrow!

Society Social Bar Carts
The bar cart craze has hit! But never have there been more fashionable bar cart options than with the debut of Society Social's new line. They recently launched a magazine (magalog) to showcase their new bar cart/furniture line and shortly thereafter made them available for purchase online. I was waiting to see what the price point would be and was pleasantly surprised. There are so many options and colors to choose from it would be so hard to pick a favorite:
You can find the bar carts online here.
Lake Atitlan Waterfront View in Panajachel
Be overwhelmed by the stunning beauty of Guatemala's Lake Atitlan or Lago de Atitlán (in Spanish), the third biggest fresh water lake in Guatemala and the deepest in Central America. A large crystal clear body of water in an ancient volcanic caldera, a mile above sea level, and surrounded by three majestic and active volcanoes which make for a magnificent background and highlights the lake's winning beauty. A lake famously hailed by “Aldous Huxley” as “the most beautiful lake in the world. Indeed, it is recognized as the fifth most beautiful lake in the world and a great place to see.Lake Atitlán is volcanic in origin. It is the result of a land collapse filling an enormous cavity formed in an eruption 84,000 years ago known as Los Chocoyos. The continuing volcanic activity in the region built three massive volcanoes in the caldera flanking the lake.
The tallest of the three is Volcán Atitlán which lies on the southern rim of the crater, dominating the stunning lake with which it shares its name. Atitlán is a Mayan word that means “the place where the rainbow gets its colors”. While Volcán San Pedro and Volcán Tolimán lie within the crater, San Pedro is the oldest of the three and probably the most photographed of all Guatemala's volcáns because of its beautiful cone. Volcán Tolimán is the youngest among them, which began growing after San Pedro stopped erupting. Atitlán's summit takes about eight “long” hours to ascend, but definitely all rewarding to be able to reach the top, overlooking one of the world's finest attraction and Guatemala's Pacific Coast.
Lake Atitlán is also known as the “land of the eternal spring”. The climate is mild, cool at night and warm during the day with the springtime weather all year round, makes for an ideal climate. But for most of the locals who live there year round, the rainy season is their favorite time of the year.
Lake Atitlán is further characterized by towns and indigenous villages of the Maya people. And Panajachel or Pana, for short is the jewel of the highlands. Nestled beside Lake Atitlán, in a volcanic archipelago, Panajachel gives you one of the best views of the lake. Although, there is no single, must-see view of the lake, a bit of a sense of adventure can be useful Experience several other vantage points from the towns surrounding the lake or from up high on the highway.
Lucky are those fortunate enough who have seen one of nature's gifts and be able to greet the sunrise and the glassy water of the beautiful Lake Atitlán.

Kelly Hoppen Wallpaper
I am still dreaming about wallpapering our powder bathroom in Eskayel wallpaper. Since it is not really in budget or high on the house priority scale, I have been looking for other options. I stumbled upon these Kelly Hoppen for Graham & Brown wallpapers on designyourwall.com a little bit ago.
I really like this classic Hicks pattern:

Hicks: Taupe/Silver
And even more dramatic in this colorway:

Hicks: Taupe/Charcoal/Silver
It also comes in a burnt orange colorway.
This textural option could add a some interest to the powder room but lacks the impact of the others:

Shagreen: White Pepper/Silver
The last contender is this large scale pattern:

Tattoo: Black and Beige
