Six new cases of coronavirus are announced today by the Ministry of Health out of a total of 3,157 laboratory diagnoses.
In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:
- Of 92 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 4 cases were identified.
- Of 740 samples taken through a private initiative, 1 case was identified.
- Of 251 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 1 case was identified.
Specifically:
The 6 new incidents were identified as follows:
One incident involves sampling through a private initiative by a person who had symptoms since September 12 and proceeded to a private examination.
Another incident came from public health clinics and involved a person who had symptoms and was referred by his personal physician to the public health clinics.
Four new incidents were detected through tracing:
One person is from the family environment of the case announced on 13/9 that had come from Russia on 9/11.
The other 3 people are from the family and friendly environment of the case announced yesterday by the tracing and linked to the cluster of the case was announced by the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals on 9/9. Along with today's cluster has 12 cases (11/9 announced 2 people, 13/9 announced 1 person, 14/9 announced 5 people).
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- From samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 164 laboratory tests were carried out,
- From samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 1,441 laboratory tests were completed,
- From the laboratory testing programme of 5,000 people aged 18-40 years in places with a high confusion of individuals, 144 laboratory tests were completed,
- Of the student control programme, 15 laboratory tests were carried out,
- From samples taken at the barricades, 21 laboratory tests were completed, and
- Samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff completed 289 laboratory diagnoses.
Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 1,540.
In addition, five people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus are being treated at Famagusta General Hospital, one of whom is in the Increased Care Unit. He's been discharged. A COVID-19 patient is being treated outside the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital.
