Halifenin Oğlu Yamalı Elbise Giyer mi ?



Ömer Bin Abdülaziz'in oğlu mektepten ağlayarak gelir. Peder-i âlileri sebebini sorduğu zaman, oğlu, "Babacığım, arkadaşlarım beni ayıplayarak, yama ve eski elbise giymişsin, sen halife oğlusun böyle gezmek sana yakışır mı dediler" diye cevap verir.



Ömer Bin Abdülaziz de hemen hazinedârına bir kâğıt yazarak, aylıklarına mahsuben, ay sonuna kadar 20 akçe verilmesini ister. Hazinedarı da, "Ya Halife, eğer ay sonuna kadar yaşayacağınıza emin iseniz, bizi de emin edin, emrinize uyarak verelim" diye cevap gönderir. Yüce halife bu cevabı alır ve oğluna da okuyarak: "Ey oğlum, yine sen bu elbise ile mektebe git, ilim ve irfan tahsiline gayret et, zira benim ay sonuna kadar yaşayacağım malum değil" deyip evladını ikna eder.
