Jogging Strollers Make Running More Fun

When I started jogging, my main concern was motivation. Going to the gym is easy. There's lots of like minded people around you usually. I find that having those people around you is an immense help. Everyone doing the same thing is a creates a social signal it seems. But when you are out jogging, with or without jogging strollers, that same sense just doesn't exist.

Jogging Strollers Make It Fun

It's something that I miss when I am jogging. Even if I am jogging with other people, all I can think about is the pressure to keep going, and I think most jogging athletes are the same. However, when I added a jogging stroller to the mix, things changed a little bit. I'm not sure why exactly. It might be the paternal instinct or maybe just that they like to make funny noises that are completely random. But whatever it is, it introduces some fun to the project. If you are a jogger, you will know how important that is.

Pushing Kids Changes Focus

Essentially the bottom line is one you change your strategy from merely jogging for performance to jogging for both performance and fun, it takes on a different angle. Adding your children to virtually any activity will do this. It will make it either impossible to accomplish or immensely fun, kids just have that effect on things.

Strollers Will Help Your Workout

I have noticed a couple of times that once I reduce my focus on purely performance and add something like kids or even music, that my times improve. This is true in other areas of life as well. Sometimes we need to release the intense laser like focus and let our minds and body's work in the background so to speak. Every time I have done this intentionally or unintentionally, it has had a positive effect. Jogging is no different. Letting the workout take a backseat to a little levity can be immensely helpful.

I have found that there is one other additional benefit to running with jogging strollers. It's fun! Just pushing that thing along somehow just makes the entire effort more fun and enjoyable. Bringing along all of the stuff you need, your drinks and towel and snacks as well as your little ones seems to add an element of joy that just isn't there otherwise.

If you are looking to add an additional element to your workout, consider adding jogging strollers and their occupants.

Taking your kids and your Jogging strollers makes running fun! Give it a try.

Get Out Of Your Workout Rut

ByLynn Bode

Do you feel like you are in a workout rut? Do you find yourself doing the same exercises month after month or even year after year? If so, you've probably found your motivation is waning. And you're not alone!

A study by the University of Florida at Gainesville found that performing the same type of exercise repetitiously increases the probability that you will not stick to it. And they learned that exercise variety may be a primary key to maintaining motivation and hence sticking to your workout regime.

Let's face it, virtually all aspects of your life can quickly become monotonous if you do the same thing day-in and day-out. After all, variety is the spice of life. And fitness is no exception. No matter whether you are a newbie to the exercise world or a seasoned veteran, you'll have more success if you enjoy what you are doing. And you will be much more likely to enjoy what you are doing if you include variety.

So, how can you avoid getting stuck in an exercise rut? Here are a few super easy ways to keep changing things up.

Start by writing down all the different exercise options that you have ever performed. If you are an exercise novice, you may not have many to write down. For example, maybe all you have tried is walking and bike riding. But, that's okay. That's all you need to get started for at least a couple of weeks. So, try doing those few options for the first couple of weeks. If you are a seasoned exerciser, then you will probably have a large list. Just choose a couple to get you started.

The next step is to do a little leg work to make your list longer. Flip through magazines, books and online fitness sites to search for new alternatives to add to your list. If you work with a fitness professional, they will have a wealth of exercise options to share with you which will make your list writing much easier. You can also ask friends and family members for suggestions based on what they have tried. Now your list should be getting rather long.

But, make sure you aren't getting stuck into one particular kind of workout. For example, you don't want only cardio-emphasis workouts (e.g. walking, swimming, jogging, biking) and you don't want only strength training options (push-ups, squats, dumbbell exercises). To ensure your workouts are effective, you need to cover all of primary exercise components: cardio, strength and stretch.

So, group your workout options into these categories. Now is the fun part - mixing them up to give your routine a real spark of motivation. Consider writing the workout name on pieces of paper and cutting them out. Then place the pieces of paper by category into three different hats. Each day choose one piece of paper from one or all of the "hats" and that will be your workout for the day.

Another fun way to keep variety in your exercises is to write the names of each workout on a white board. Pick one (or more) to do each day. As you choose that workout erase it from the white board so you can't perform that workout the next day. Repetition will not be part of YOUR regimen.

Have fun and you'll probably think of other clever ways to keep variety in your routine!

Creating Your Very Own Home Gym

As every New Year's Day rolls around, millions of people are bound to make a resolution to work out more, maybe buy a gym membership, and even maintain a healthier life style. While exercising at a gym allows you to stay fit and socialize while using any one of the many workout machines available, paying an expensive gym membership every month may not be the best option for everyone. If you prefer to work out in the comfort of your own home, whenever you please and without needing to travel to a gym every day to work out, then setting up a home gym is a perfect option for you.

Home gyms are a great alternative to spending a high monthly fee at a local gym that you may have to drag yourself on a daily basis in sometimes less than ideal weather conditions. A person is more likely to use gym equipment to keep up a regular exercise routine if it is easily accessible to them. What's more convenient than walking into your very own garage, basement, or spare room to spend a few minutes exercising whenever the notion hits you. No need to get dressed in order to be presentable in public, then travel more than a couple miles to your local gym, and wasting time, money, and gas on something that you can do from the comfort of your own home.

Some may think that you need a large, open space in order to set up a home gym. While that is ideal if you want to own a few large pieces of gym equipment, it is not necessary. There are many different styles and models of gym equipment based on your particular goals; a lot of which combine different workout styles into one machine to optimize space usage. Investing in a total gym machine will help you conserve space if you don't have a large garage or open room available to setup and store all of your equipment. Once you figure out your fitness goals, start looking for gym equipment that will help you accomplish your objectives.

For beginners or individuals interested in maintaining all around fitness with no specialty in mind; simple is key. Invest in a treadmill, elliptical, or another piece of equipment that can provide you with a cardio workout, and some free weights or weight bench. If strength training is your purpose, research equipment like any one of the Bowflex machines or total home gym strength trainers. Once you get a few pieces of gym equipment set up, there will be nothing stopping you from reaching your ideal fitness situation whenever you see fit.

Get a Calorie Blasting Workout at Home Without Expensive Exercise Equipment

I love circuit workouts as a solution for people who haven't got much time to train. You move quickly from one exercise to another, each working different muscle groups, so one area of your body gets to rest while another area is doing its thing.

You can create your own circuit workout at home with little or no equipment. You get to choose the exercises, the music, when, where and how you do it. They can be designed for cardio/aerobic fitness or resistance training and can be very specific to your fitness goals. In short, circuits rock!

Think about what you'd like to get from your workout. To sweat it out and go for the burn you'll need to include lots of aerobic moves, or to build strength you'll need to think of exercises that work against resistance. Weights would be helpful for this, but not essential as there are lots of exercises that use lifting your own body weight against gravity to build strength.
Dust off that exercise bike, pump up that sagging Swiss ball, and roll out those old dumbbells. Assemble all the exercise equipment you've gathered over the years, or at least make a list of it.
Now list all the exercises you know how to do, both with any equipment you have or without. But only pick exercises you feel confident you'll be able to perform safely. Once you have your list, split it into four columns - arms and shoulders, legs and butt, chest and back, and stomach/core.
I'm going to recommend you do each of the exercises for two minutes, but you can, of course, increase or reduce this depending on your goals and the time you have available. I'm also going to suggest you repeat your entire circuit of exercises three times. Now you need to divide up your available time. If you're sticking with the three laps of the circuit and two minutes at each exercise station, divide the duration of time you'd like your circuit to last by three to find the amount of time you have available for each "lap" of your circuit. Then divide that number by two to determine how many exercises to include in the circuit. So, if you'd like to create a 30 minute circuit session you'll have time for three 10 minute repetitions of your circuit, so you can include five exercises (two minutes for each). Again, this is just a suggestion, you should tailor your circuit to whatever meets your needs.
Once you know how many exercises you need to include you can go about creating your exercise stations. This may mean putting a piece of equipment in each corner of a room, in a row down the hall way, or even dashing from one room to another if you're really short of space. An exercise station could be just a mat on the floor where you'll do ab crunches or even just bits of paper placed on the floor naming the exercise you'll do in that location. If you're aiming for a full body workout choose at least one exercise from each of the columns on your list. Otherwise tailor your exercise to whatever your aims are.
Place a clock where you can clearly see it, or better still set a timer to beep at two-minute intervals, so you know when to change stations. And go!

Tips:
As with any exercise session, always begin with a gentle warm up and end by gradually cooling down. You may want to devise a flexibility circuit to follow where you visit each of your exercise stations and stretch the muscles you worked there.
Safety first. Your exercise goals could come to naught if you get injured, so make sure all your exercises, equipment and locations are safe and suitable.
Exercises should be performed one after another with no breaks, so avoid working the same muscle in two consecutive exercises to allow it to rest.
Keep changing your circuit routine so it's stays challenging, in line with your goals, and fun.
If you know a lot of exercises you could devise several circuits to use on different days.
Don't be disheartened if it takes a little time to prepare your first circuit or it doesn't quite work as you'd hoped! Once you get good at this, you'll be able to quickly put together combinations of moves and really feel in control of your workouts.
