Calypso + Target Lookbook Released

Ever since Target announced its design collaboration with Calypso back in January (see here), I have been eagerly awaiting for the images from their collection.  Finally, Target released the lookbook on Monday.  Although this collaboration has been met with mixed reviews all along, I for one, am pleased with the overall line.  I look to Calypso for flowy bohemian dresses, tunics, and accessories that evoke the effortless island lifestyle, and I think they delivered this look for less.  Here are some of my favorites that I will hopefully snag online come their debut at Target on May 1:

In terms of their fashion line, I would love to pick up a tunic in that fun turquoise print, and I think a bathing suit is a must too.  Their accessories line runs the gamut from bags, hats, jewelry, and hair accessories.  That simple clutch with the metallic medallion is one of my favorites along with that floppy white hat, perfect for shielding my skin in the summer!

The bright pinks and oranges of those glasses with the complementary plates and bowls are bursting with color, and I don't know that I will ever tire of a metallic pouf, and this one for the excellent price point of $59.99 is a steal (also comes in gold).   Let me know what you think?

See the whole lookbook here.

How To Peacefully Coexist

So, I think I mentioned that we rented a camper-van and are driving around the North Island of New Zealand.

Have you ever been in a tiny box with the same person for a very, very long time? You sleep in it; you (sometimes) eat in it; you put your dirty socks in it; you drive everywhere in it. It is not self contained, aka, it does not have a shower or a toilet or a power supply, so you spend a lot of time with your head light strapped to your head, playing rummikub inside the van (down by the river).

You also spend a lot of time fighting over who's going to drive, directions/where to go, why so and so's stinky socks are sitting on so and so's backpack, why so and so forgot to plug in or unplug the fridge, where did so and so put the cups.....and so on.

And there is no place to go. You can go and sit in the front to "be alone", instead of sitting in the back. We have made a joke about it -- the front is the study, the back is the living room.

The problem is compounded by the fact that it gets dark around 6, so there is not really anything to do after that. Also, the camping grounds often close their gates around 6 (it is going on winter here), so you can't even leave and go do something. Also, some of them don't even have lights or a table or anything! So you have no choice than to...you guessed it...sit in the van!

We have also only had one place with hot showers, so not only is it dark in the van, but it's pretty smelly! So, why do we subject ourselves to this, you are wondering. Well, despite all above statements, it's FUN! We can go wherever we want, whenever we want to. We can even drive till we drop and then sleep pretty much wherever! We have spent the night near the beach, in prime forest locations, with great views and...even in a parking lot. We have all our food with us -- I can have a ham a cheese sandwich ready in a jiff, no matter where we are! We don't have to carry our backpacks or find out when the next bus is! We can go to all the nooks and crannies that public transportation doesn't go to! It's GREAT! Such freedom!

Anyway, it's been 7 days so far -- we have 15 to go. We haven't killed each other YET (keep your fingers crossed for me). I will check back in a week or so and we will see how it's going then, shall we!

Today's post is part of the A-Z blogfest. H is for How. You can find the rest HERE

I leave you with a photo:

New Finds!

This weekend we went to estate sales!! One of my favorite things to do. Not only do you get to go shopping, you get to tour a house as well! I saw so many lovely things that I wanted to bring home. But either I didn't have a place or purpose for them or they were out of my price range. :( I did find a few goodies though. A few books, a box of trim, garden tools, a glass pitcher.
Today I am sharing two of the books I bought. The first, a small cookbook copyright 1936, "Baker's Best Chocolate Recipes"

The pictures are so cute! Love the coffee pot.

Next is a book from 1947, "How to Make Paper Flowers and Party Decorations". It just looked intriguing. It tells how to make favors, flowers, centerpieces and decorate with crepe paper. Isn't that fascinating! That is certainly a lost art. The flowers are gorgeous!

How to deck a room in 5 minutes!

This reminds me of another book I have about parties. "Parties, for Special Days of the Year". Quite a cute little book with lots of ideas and games to play. Everything from a New Year's party to an Education party! Someday I will have to host one :)

Such cute little illustrations.

Freedom Of Religion!

In the United States, there are many types of religions being practiced. Everyone has the right to choose their religion and to respect the religion of others. Although Catholics were not respected back then, they are now. Freedom of religion should be one of the important issues that occur in the United States.

Since the United States has many different religions they should be able to pick the one they most appreciate or like. I believe that no one should discriminate their choice of religion and they should respect it no matter what. Freedom of Religion is the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and back then it wasn't well respected but today it is. Religion should be free and everybody should be able to practice their religion without being mistreated. There should be no law regarding religion.

Freedom of Religion is the First Amendment in the Constitution of The United States. No law should be established regarding religion.Citizens should be able to pick their own religion and practice the want they want to. Nobody should discriminate religion!

Catholicism Today!

Catholics struggled a lot in the past decades to gain equal rights. They were discriminated and mistreated by Protestants, the Ku Klux Klan, and other organizations. They made up a small percent of the United States religion. Now they make up a large percent and Catholicism is one of of the most practiced religion in some states.

Roman Catholicism is a branch of the Christian religion. They have unique traditions and practices and their own beliefs aside from those of Christians. Catholicism has become one of the largest Christian groups with around a billion followers. In nearly all Latin countries, Spain and Italy, Catholicism is the most practiced religion and it makes up half of the worlds Christians. Statistics show that in 2001, 24% of Americans identified themselves as Catholics. Around five Supreme Court Justices are Catholics. Catholic citizens have gain respect from the community and from different people around the world. They are no  longer discriminated and are free to walk down the streets without facing any kind of danger. Catholics have their private churches, priests and many loyal followers.

Although Catholics struggled a lot now they have the equal rights they deserve. They make a large percent on the United States population and have their own churches, unique beliefs and priests. Catholicism is one of the most practiced religion in countries like Spain, Italy and Latin American countries. Now Catholics are well knowned around the world and held high positions in government and in other positions. The Catholics have succeeded.
